Obamacare

It will be health rationing, is what it will be. He lies - "If you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor. Period. If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away."

Think if the government offers a lower cost alternative your employer is still going to offer you health insurance?

Jim Lindgren writing for the Internet blog the Volokh Conspiracy:

"But if the Obama plan is enacted, a substantial portion of employers will cut their health subsidies - raising their employees' share of contributions to the company plan - in order to drive some of the employees into the government exchange and the public option. Other employers may drop their plans altogether - after all, workers could buy their own coverage in the government exchange - or simply fund part of their workers' participation in the exchange. These changes, which would be the direct results of the implementation of the Obama plan, would make it virtually impossible for Obama to keep these promises...."

Right now, if you truly look at the number that are uninsured, taking away the illegals, those that would be covered under Schip or Medicare, those that are in between insurance coverage, and those that don't wish to buy health insurance (usually the 18 to 30 crowd), you have roughly 10 million uninsured. So we're doing this to make EVERYONE pay more taxes to just cover 10 million, and this plan is going to force roughly 22 million people off their current health care plan (estimate). And best estimates on that "47 million uninsured" best estimates is that only 16 million would become insured. Wow. Great plan, government work at its finest!

Also, regarding rationing of health care (don't think its not coming - its coming for YOU if you are older, or are in poor health!), he has said -
"The chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill...." So what does he do about this quandary? He says "There is going to have to be a conversation that is guided by doctors, scientists, ethicists. And then there is going to have to be a very difficult democratic conversation that takes place. It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels."

Meaning what? ethicists.. like Peter Singer?

One advisor that Obummer has that he's listening to is related to Rahm Emanuel - Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, his brother. From an article in the Lancet in 2008, this "Dr." wrote Unlike allocation by sex or race, allocation by age is not invidious discrimination.' We all were young once, the argument goes, and so denying the elderly and weak in order to care for the young and fit is just."

Just great. Sounds like the same thing we fought against during World War II, Adolf Hitler and his Reich. Only this time, its in our country, and coming from the White House. And being heralded as something "new and great" for this country. Never mind the fact that other countries that have socialized medicine are switching back to privatized medicine, because IT DOESNT WORK OUT. The quality of care is shoddy, and the waiting times are abysmal, and the death rates are high. Cancer death rates in Canada are roughly 50%. Do we want that here? We would be taking a big step backwards if we did. I keep hearing on the radio advertisements for new therapies from MD Anderson Cancer Center. Leading research. I imagine all that will go away once Obamacare starts. New drugs? Fat chance. We'll all be back on aspirin and not much else, because its cheap.

  2. Almost forgot...that's not really "Obamacare"...it's more like Obama DON'T care, right?

  3. Obama's health care plan is... what's the word... hmmmmmmmm. Well, I can't think of a word that suits it. I can't even think of a word stronger than hate, if I could, that's the word I would use to describe how I feel about his health reform bull... Obama thinks that by offering the option of government health coverage or whatever, it's going to create "competition." Yet... he wants to tax those who don't use *his* national health coverage. Where has logic gone?

And ethics... We have all this medical technology to prolong lives, but what good is it if we start abandoning the poor and the old and the weak and the chronically ill. Healthy people won't need all that advanced technology, and if nobody needs it, nobody's going to continue researching it, and then Russia or China or North Korea will take over the world! Scary scary scary stuff.
