Heh

It doesn't JUST make ya dumb - it does other things -

Recent evidence documents that cannabis use by young people is a modest statistical risk factor for psychotic symptoms in adulthood, such as hallucinations and delusions, as well as clinically significant schizophrenia. The vast majority of cannabis users do not develop psychosis, however, prompting us to hypothesize that some people are genetically vulnerable to the deleterious effects of cannabis. METHODS: In a longitudinal study of a representative birth cohort followed to adulthood, we tested why cannabis use is associated with the emergence of psychosis in a minority of users, but not in others. RESULTS: A functional polymorphism in the catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) gene moderated the influence of adolescent cannabis use on developing adult psychosis. Carriers of the COMT valine158 allele were most likely to exhibit psychotic symptoms and to develop schizophreniform disorder if they used cannabis.

oh GEEZE

Now if this isn't silliness I don't know what is - I'm surprised Quanell X has not come out against it, being it happened in the Houston area! Seems the word "negroid" is RACIST! It's become the new "n" word. Funny, Caucasoid is not a racist term, neither is Mongoloid, but Negroid is racist. Sounds like those people who thought the word "snigger" was a racial epithet. A 'civil rights activist' says she is outraged by the insensitivity.

The word Negroid is used by anthropologists working in craniofacial anthropometry.

Some people would see racist comments if you said Hello how are you? I think.

A racial slur... I think not!

Some people need to get over themselves, and stop looking for racism in everything, including white bread.

For your edification, from Webster's 11th Dictionary, online version:

Main Entry: 1snig·ger
Pronunciation: \ˈsni-gər\
Function: intransitive verb
Inflected Form(s): snig·gered; snig·ger·ing \-g(ə-)riŋ\
Etymology: by alteration
Date: circa 1706

: snicker

— snig·ger·er \-gər-ər\ noun

Obama gives his true face

Turns out apart from pResident Obummer slamming the Special Olympics (which, by the way, bowl way better scores than he did), he likes to flip the bird at people. Don't believe me? Evidence HERE.

This guy is just plain low-down and common, despite his having gone to Harvard and other fancy universities. He's no better than the local thug down on the corner. No class whatsoever. He thinks people don't see what he's doing? People are not that stupid. He's doing what you do when you WANT to give someone the finger, but you try to look like you're actually not. He's got that hoity-toity nose in the air, but he's no better than the guttersnipes.

Some Thomas Jefferson Quotes

I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground that 'all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states or to the people.' To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn around the powers of Congress, is to take possession of a boundless field of power, not longer susceptible of any definition. Opinion on the Constitutionality of a National Bank, February 15, 1791

If the present Congress errs in too much talking, how can it be otherwise in a body to which the people send 150 lawyers, whose trade it is to question everything, yield nothing, & talk by the hour? That 150 lawyers should do business together ought not to be expected. Autobiography, 1821

It would reduce the whole instrument to a single phrase, that of instituting a Congress with power to do whatever would be for the good of the United States; and as they would be the sole judges of the good or evil, it would be also a power to do whatever evil they please. Certainly no such universal power was meant to be given them. It [the Constitution] was intended to lace them up straightly within the enumerated powers and those without which, as means, these powers could not be carried into effect. I hate headaches

I've been having one since Tuesday morning, I can tell that spring is on its way, the spring sinus troubles have begun.

On another note, Obummer's big dog and pony show was on today, on television. Could he get any more annoying? And then he goes on to say that they're going to do it the Democrat way, anyway. The Republicans should not have shown up to his show. Since when is saying NO a bad thing? Want to overspend? NO. Want to go drunk driving? NO.
Want to jump off a cliff? NO. See, no can be a good thing, and it is usually a good thing in politics and spending, and overweening government control, especially in unconstitutional things.

I just found this

I found this quote while looking up the beginning of the income tax - a quote by Thomas Jefferson - on the general welfare clause:

To take from one, because it is thought his own industry and that of his father has acquired too much, in order to spare to others who (or whose fathers) have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, "to guarantee to everyone a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it."

Wow. How true this is. I'm finding that I am liking more and more of the Founding Fathers' writings. They made such sense, and it is so applicable to today, even though it was written over 200 years ago.

Want to know the highest tax rate that's been used? Right after WW2, top income tax rate was 94% on those with incomes over a million dollars. 94%? that means for every dollar earned, 94 cents is going to the government. Confiscatory taxes! This page from the Treasury gives a good history of the taxes over the years, from pre-Colonial times to today.

For more quotes from the Founding Fathers, this page has over 250 quotes. I'm fixing to go read some right now :D

Another honor killing

An Iraqi man that ran over his daughter, Noor Almalek, age 20, for "being too westernized", is going to court. They have decided to not press the death penalty. He ran over another woman too, by the way, in Peoria, October 20th.

Almaleki is charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault and two counts of leaving the scene of a serious accident. The moron pleaded "not guilty". Yeah and I'm the Queen of England too.

The decision not to seek the death penalty comes after Almaleki's attorney, Billy Little, a public defender, asked a judge to take special precautions to ensure the County Attorney's Office wouldn't wrongly seek the death penalty because Almaleki is a Muslim.

Little requested that the office make public the process it uses to determine whether to seek capital punishment.

"An open process provides some level of assurance that there is no appearance that a Christian is seeking to execute a Muslim for racial, political, religious or cultural beliefs," Little wrote, referring to County Attorney Andrew Thomas' Christian faith.

Laura Reckart, a county prosecutor, responded that Little's concern about the "supposed bias" of the office's death-penalty-review process was "without legitimate factual or legal basis."

She wrote that the state can seek the death penalty for any person convicted of first-degree murder if it can prove the existence of at least one aggravating factor, not because of religion.

Gee.. what Islamophobia - seeking the death penalty because he deliberately ran over 2 people. This is more racism by Muslims, seeking to upset the rule of law, and make special exceptions for them.

Prosecutors said Almaleki has admitted killing his daughter because she disgraced the family by not following traditional Iraqi or Muslim values. She reportedly married a man in Iraq, and returned to Arizona to live with a boyfriend and his mother.

Man eats dog

No.. wait.. it was dog eats man.. LIBERTY, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in Ohio say they found a dismembered body inside a house with three dogs, which had been eating the remains.

A dog warden says body parts were "all over the place.". Full story here.

I have several things running through my head today, after watching television yesterday. Its about the US debt - China used to be our largest foreign holder of bonds and Tbills, now it's Japan. They own about 10 billion more than China does. But you know what is not ever being said, or noised about, is that the FED is the largest owner of debt - having money in one pocket, and not in another, and saying "oh we'll pay for that money out of this money", take it out of the pocket and put it in the other and saying "well thats' paid for" . When it's not. Its a slick version of the shell game.. where is the actual money at? Except in this case, there is nothing under one of the shells, they're all empty. And the American taxpayer is left holding the bag.

The world's largest Ponzi scheme (at that time) is taking in less than it pays out now. It was originally scheduled to do that in 2019 or thereabouts. Guess what. It showed up earlier. I'm talking about Social Security. In 1945 there were 42 workers for each beneficiary. Now its down to 2 workers. Guess what? It has to be stopped. We're already on the hook for 14 trillion to future workers.

Guess what? Another (even larger now) Ponzi scheme was created by the government - Medicare. In 1965, when it was started, the original outlook for medicare by 1990 was $12 billion (figuring in inflation). However actual costs for medicare in 1990 was $107 billion. Now the spending for Medicare/Medicaid is up to $758,757,183,944.00 and climbing by the second.

Between the Medicare/Medicaid, Prescription drug, and Social Security, UNFUNDED liabilities, is up to over $107,000,000,000,000.00

Lovely. And our government cannot stop spending. This has got to stop! People that get checks from the government for Social Security, usually take out what they put in in around 4 years. Social Security INSURANCE was never intended to be the only amount of money people get when they are old. Too many never saved, and now they rely on that, and they're taking out way more than they put in. And heaven forbid if you suggest that it be phased out, and gotten rid of, or privatized. "It's my right, I paid in all those years" never mind the fact that the money you paid in then was spent that same year, and most people are beyond that 3 or 4 year point where you've already taken back the money you put in. It's not a right.

Obama lies again

Like that's something new! He's on about how "his stimulus program saved or created 2 million jobs". Yeah, right, sure. Giving someone a raise does NOT constitute saving or creating a job. And saying that X amount of jobs in 12345 zip code were created, when 12345 zip code does not even exist, make it a saved or created job. Districts were quoted on the Obama recovery website, that didn't even exist. There were so many holes and blunders on that website, that its ridiculous.

From the Washington Examiner:

The fiasco prompted Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag to issue new "simplified guidelines" for how to measure the effect of the stimulus program on employment. But, as Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., wrote in a Jan. 8 letter to recovery.gov's inspector general, the new guidelines actually raised additional credibility questions about White House assertions on the stimulus program's effectiveness.

Said Issa: "The new guidance counts every job that is funded using stimulus money -- even if it existed before the Recovery Act, and was not in any danger of being eliminated -- as 'created or saved.' This definition ignores the plain meanings of the words 'created' and 'saved,' and makes Recovery.gov's 'JOBS CREATED/SAVED' label a falsehood, further eroding the confidence of the American people in their government."

What else will they lie about? They lie about global warming - it hasn't warmed since 1995.. but they keep on about it.

They're taking the propaganda way from Hitler, Goebbels, etc.

His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.

Does this sound familiar? It sure does. They admit nothing is ever done wrong, etc. It's the Chicago way, taken straight from the Nazi playbook.

God on the ballot

Ballot Proposition #4: Public Acknowledgement of God - The use of the word "God", prayers, and the Ten Commandments should be allowed at public gatherings and public educational institutions, as well as be permitted on government buildings and property. YES OR NO

I heard on the radio the other day, when I was listening to Dan Patrick on AM 700, KSEV (great radio to listen to), and he was talking about the different ballot propositions. I was briefly in the car, and didn't hear which ones were being proposed, but that a yes vote on each of them would be a good thing. I think this one would be a good one. It allows freedom of speech again. Seems the only speech disallowed nowadays is religious speech, unless you're a Muslim. Then it's OK to speak all you want, and squawk about being discriminated against. Never mind the blowings up and things going on like that.

Taking a day off from the computer to clean up around here, the kidlet has allergies, and the kleenex fairy has to go about the living room, picking up used kleenex after her. Amazing how that works! Listening to the 80s channel on TV, DirectTV has changed around their stations now, the 70s/80s channel I liked is no more. Now it's a 60s/70s/80s channel. Not as nice. They used to have a 60s/70s channel AND a 70s/80s channel so you could be a bit picker as to what you want to listen to.

Ahmadinajad is lambasting Obummer for not closing Gitmo soon enough for his taste - since when did we care what a nutcase thinks? Obummer is not strong enough on his "oh that's naughty" speeches about Iran. Netanyahu had the stronger condemnation of Iran's nuclear program. Maybe he can loan Obummer some spine.

There is a businessman running against Ron Paul this year for the 14th district of Texas, and his stances on things are good enough that I think he might pull it off - I have not seen polling data for his standings against Ron Paul. Graney is his name - is his website. I looked around it a bit yesterday.

Help from above

A marine survived a shot to the front of his helmet in Afghanistan - it just bounced off!

Lance Cpl. Koenig's brush with death came during a day of intense fighting for the Marines of Company B, 1st Battalion, 6th Regiment.

The company had landed by helicopter in the predawn dark on Saturday, launching a major coalition offensive to take Marjah from the Taliban.

The Marines set up an outpost in a former drug lab and roadside-bomb factory and soon found themselves under near-constant attack.

Lance Cpl. Koenig, a lanky 21-year-old with jug-handle ears and a burr of sandy hair, is a designated marksman. His job is to hit the elusive Taliban fighters hiding in the tightly packed neighborhood near the base.

The insurgent sniper hit him first. The Casper, Wyo., native was kneeling on the roof of the one-story outpost, looking for targets.

He was reaching back to his left for his rifle when the sniper's round slammed into his helmet.

The impact knocked him onto his back.

Turns out he ended up with a red welt above his eye. Talk about someone looking out for him - There is another soldier mentioned in this story whose helmet was shot through, and he is ok. Full story HERE.

racist? you bet

Abortion ends more black lives than heart disease, cancer, accidents, AIDS, and violent crime combined. African-Americans constitute little more than 12 percent of the population but have more than a third (37 percent) of abortions. ...Revealingly enough, roughly 80 percent of Planned Parenthood's abortion centers are in or near minority communities. -- P.277 from Liberal Fascism, by Jonah Goldberg

And Planned Parenthood just opened a BIG building in SE Houston, one of the areas that has alot of minority communities. Guess they're following up on Margaret Sanger's vision. She was also against "lower classes" of people breeding -

"...human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born." Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people

Lovely isn't it? Germany looked at the United States as a leader in eugenics, which they took to its conclusion. Planned Parenthood gives out Margaret Sanger awards each year. Funny how they set her up as a beacon of light, when she was a bringer of death for so many.

Margaret Sanger was a racist, and I think Planned Parenthood is continuing on in that racist line that she was also. Heh. bet the title of this post got ya :P

Stuck

An unusual site near Willowbrook! Viewers e-mailed and called us here at FOX 26, to alert us about an animal that had them doing double-takes.

At first glance, it looked like a typical cow pasture. Then, when you look just a little further- what do you see? A beautiful little blonde yearling with a car tire stuck around her neck.

"Cows get very curious and tend to get themselves in just a little bit of trouble," says the cattle caretaker, Tom Dieho.

He watches after the cattle, since their owner had a serious accident. He says the cows are the love of the other guy's life, so he tries to take good care of him. He rushed to the pasture, when he found out about the calf's conundrum.

"Just so happened there were some tires here laying around the calf. She got it around her neck just being curious", Dieho told us.

Other cows weren't so sure about her new accessory, but but were certainly interested in "what in the world" it was.

They surrounded her, sniffing at the tire, while others butted it with their noses. Apparently, it's not just cats that are curious.

Other cows weren't so sure they even wanted to share hay with the tire-clad calf. They nudged her out of the way and she stumbled off, forlorn.

The SPCA also came to the rescue. Along with Dieho, they were able to corral the calf and what goes on, must come off. They were able to pry the tire right off of her neck.

Her cow comrades closely watched the action, and now it's time for her to mooooove on.

We should all be so lucky

We should be so lucky as to get a survey from our elected representatives, and fill it out this way. Dee gave me the idea of mailing back their stuff with wrong address on the envelope.. and on the backside I'd write "you're an idiot"

Superbowl or Puppybowl?

Which one was better this year? We watched the Superbowl up until the part of the 2nd half when whatshisface for the Saints made that long run down the field and made the score 30 to 17, and then we went to sleep. I watched the Puppy Bowl, and had a better time, although I think this year's Kitty Half-time Show was not as good as last years, although the kittens were cute, especially that orange kitten, and the long-haired kitten. As always the kittens were confused when the confetti started falling from the sky. The hamsters were cute, as were the bunnies. And then there's the tail-gate party in the parking lot.

Obama went to this year's Prayer Breakfast, after being in church only 4 times so far this year (so much for his great faith), and I thought "why bother?" If you're not going to back up your words with deeds, your words are mere hot air. No wonder he says he didn't hear Jeremiah Wright give sermons like what was aired before the election - he probably didn't go, preferring instead to sleep in on Sunday mornings.

Funny how Sarah Palin is lambasted for having a few notes in ink on her hand (which makes her much more a normal person than most politicians), over 2,000 items on Google with her crib notes, vs. Obama's saying 'corpsman' pronouncing the "P". Is this guy an idiot? he said it three times. He would probably pronounce "forecastle" how it's spelled, instead of how it's actually pronounced. I worked deck division, and everyone else knew how it was pronounced, and no one said 'fore-castle". But then again, if you have a familiarity with military, you generally know how things are pronounced.

Another 2 churches in east Texas were torched Monday night, a Baptist church and a Missionary Baptist church, about 3 miles apart. That makes a total of 10 churches that have been set on fire by the arsonist, and there are no clues as to the identity of the person yet. or group. These ones were by Tyler. Some sick people out there, setting buildings on fire.

One thing that gets me cheesed off, is Michelle (needs more boob belt) Obama, with her 'child obesity challenge'. Its the parents responsibility, and they've fallen down on the job. Why is she going to get the government into meddling with this? Because they're Progressives, and they know better than you what is good for you. Prohibition was done by the Progressives, and every other darn meddling in your life is done by the Progressives "for your good" because you're too darn stupid to know what to do without the government telling you exactly what to do. ok rant over. That is their attitude towards people, and I'm fed up with it. The National Socialists also did things like this, "for the people's good", yet the Progressives and those who still call themselves Democrats do the same, yet deny that the National Socialist Party was on the left, oh no, they must be on the right because they're anti-semetic. That didn't start until later on in party politics, the laws against the Jews. First they started off with the "it's for your own good" stuff, and then they went after the Jews. I'd put the Progressives under the same heading as children of collectivism, socialists, communists, fascists. Add into that mix Progressives, which is just socialism mixed with fascism under a different name.

The government should own no part of a private industry - banking, cars, whatever. No part of it should be owned by the government, with a face of it being privately run/owned. THAT is fascistic, and Mussolini did the same thing. The Progressives of the early 20th century looked up at Mussolini as doing something great, and they openly admired him and Hitler in Germany, for what they were doing for their countries. They later backed off their stance, as it went further along. Same with Margaret Sanger, with Planned Parenthood.. they cleaned it up, took away the eugenics (the Germans looked to the US for inspiration in their eugenics program), and her hatred of blacks and the lower clases (the Irish come to mind), and make it a 'good thing'. Blechk!

On another note, Valentine's Day is coming up this Sunday. Don't forget to get your sweetheart something, go out to dinner, and have a special night. Get a babysitter for the kids and go out.

Houston Zoo

We went to the Houston zoo on January 2nd, and I got some pictures. This is the jellyfish tank at the aquarium in the zoo. We originally were going to the museum of natural history (HMNS) but could not find parking anywhere near it - but we found parking at the zoo lot, so we went there instead. In the Reptile House is the albino alligator - they have one at the New Orleans zoo also - they are nestmates - If I remember right, there were like 5 or 6 albino alligators from one nest - and they were parceled out to zoos. We didn't see the rhino (thank goodness), but we did go to the children's zoo section. They have a building now where kids can bring in things from nature, and earn points to trade for various things, even bobcat skulls. I'll stick with my bobcat skull that's on my desk here (from the neighbor's hunting). Although I have to glue some of his teeth back in his head, the little ones are starting to fall out. When I went to the New Orleans aquarium in 2005 (before Katrina), they had two or three jellyfish tanks, with different types of jellyfish in them. It was really neat, and they had seahorses and sea dragons. I had never seen a sea dragon before, I think a salt water tank with some would be fun to have.. (but still hard to maintain!).

America's Visa Card

While reading yesterday, I came across an article talking about how if the US had a visa card, what our national income would be, and our national out-goings. Here is the gist of it:

Q. Say America was a person, how much credit card debt would America have?

A. Let's put it this way: Spending last year was about $3.5 trillion. The deficit was $1.42 trillion, which means that revenues were about $2.1 trillion. So $2.1 trillion is equal to their annual income.

The total national debt right now is $12.3 trillion. So we owe five to six times more than we make every year. But that's not the big deal.

In addition to that, there is another $45 trillion to $50 trillion in unfunded obligations that are off the balance sheet, which I think you ought to count. Medicare is the biggest part of it by far, and Social Security is a large part, too. So in reality, we owe between 25 and 30 times what we make every year.

HOLY COW! And Obummer wants to increase the spending, when we are up to our eyeballs in national debt, and spending WAY more than comes in. What kind of idiots are running the show? We have credit cards that we use, but we pay them off in full each month. That way there's no interest accrued, and no debt considered. Owing between 25 and 30 times what we make each year, and it's only increasing. It will increase quite a bit as the baby boomers get onto medicare, and onto Social Security. This thing is going to backfire onto the country in a big way. Any person that carries this amount of debt is going into a big pit, and so is our country.

WHAT is he thinking?

What on earth is Obummer thinking, with a 2011 budget of 3.83 TRILLION in spending! When you're in the red as much as we are, you don't go raising your budgets, you SLASH them, despite all squawks to the contrary. Bush's spending was in the billions.. this guys' is in the trillions. I honestly think that those in office right now don't give a damn about spending money they don't have, or can't tax out of us. No middle-class tax hikes? You can take all the money from the "Rich" and it still won't suffice for what he wants to spend, with the deficit. Take money from "the evil oil companies" and it still won't pay for it all. It's gotten far past the point of ridiculousness, and is into the "what the hell are you (not) thinking" part. Remember how he said "those making over 250k are 'the rich'. Now it's down to those making 85k are rich, their taxes will be going up also. The target just keeps moving lower and lower.

I like to spend money.. but even *I* know that when you're out of money, you don't keep spending. or increase your budget.

Taking care of elderly parents

I always thought this was something that should be done - by families, instead of shoving them off on medicare and social security - being social security is meant as a 'supplement' not something one lives off of. In the UK Dailymail, I came across an article that says this "Children should be forced to care for their parents and grandparents in old age in return for all the 'free' childcare they were once given, a leading family lawyer will say today." Talks about the childcare that grandparents give their grandchildren, often without pay or even thought of pay. Since when is it that everyone has shifted the responsibility for their family over to the government to take care of them?

In the UK, they had the Poor Law, (now abolished), required children to take some financial responsibility for their parents, although this was often resisted.

The passing of the Maintenance of Parents Act 1995 in Singapore gave people aged 60 and over who cannot support themselves financially the ability to sue for cash and care from their children.

It shouldn't take a lawsuit for children to provide for their aging parents, or to dump their grandchildren on them so they can work.

This is an increasingly selfish time I think, as older people are shoved out of their childrens lives, and are foisted onto someone else to support.

My net is back

after a few days of no internet.. which SUCKED, I now have net again. Lots of stupidity happened, including the president saying that we need to 'stop spending', yet ups the rates of different government agencies. Stop watching his right hand, see what he's doing with his left.
