More Nincompoopery!

Okay.. I just can't let this go - 2 posts in one day, after a long famine of blogging! The nincompoop-in-chief, pResident Obama, says (with perhaps a single brain cell working):

"students should take fewer standardized tests and school performance should be measured in other ways than just exam results. Too much testing makes education boring for kids..."

Gee.. "One thing I never want to see happen is schools that are just teaching the test because then you're not learning about the world, you're not learning about different cultures, you're not learning about science, you're not learning about math,"

Uh, if they didn't actually LEARN then they'd fail the test...and not get passed onto another grade, unable to do the work. There were studies done, (my kindle is recharging, otherwise I'd be able to get you names & figures) of 'teaching the test' and that is *yet another* myth about schools.

He spoke to Univision Monday, about this 'not taking so many tests', and that 1 in 3 Hispanic students actually graduate from HS.

Lack of money for schools? Another myth. We've trebled the amounts given to schools, and the test scores have remained flat.

GAH.. idiots abound!

    "Nincompooerpy"...ROFLMAO!
You writing YOUR own lexicon now?
    FEWER tests?
    How about GOOD tests?
How about GOOD (as in better-behaved) students?
How about GOOD parenting (and some accountability)?

Lots of "good" to go around...if you really KNOW where to find it.

Back in my day, school DID, in fact get YOU "ready for the real world", whether you went right into a job, or into college.

Today, it's program after program to (first) get that "self-esteem" up...nothing about HOW TO ACT with others, or in public, or even HOW to be an ETHICAL or CIVIL person.

It amazes me the direction they want our kids to go...
    Another excellent post here.

    Stay safe down there.

  2. It's ridiculous. And isn't nincompoopery a word? Hmm.. evidently not, it's underlined in red wiggly stuff on here! Hah! Funny how the US students come in high on self-esteem, but (I think) 17th in social studies, and even poorer in math. One of the eastern European countries comes in with higher scores than the US schools.
